"Revisiting Armenian Pastries"

A Food project in Armenia by Ari Haroutiounian from Armenia

Funding for this project ended on April 04, 2019.
What this project is about

Anyone who has tasted a Baklava remembers the feel of it in the mouth as it melts and the rush that one feels after that first bite. I want to be able to get a chance to sell my refined Armenian pastries at cafes so both locals and tourists can get a chance to savour freshly prepared pastries.

Where does my love for baking come from?

I have always been in love with baking. I remember watching my grand mother and my mother preparing pastries for every occassion where there was a birthday, or a baptism, a wedding... Even the neighbours would ask them to prepare things for special occasions, because all the neighbours knew their pastries were the best.

So I had the best teachers and I continued the legacy.

When did I have the idea?

It wasn't until recently, that I had the chance to get a visa to travel and visit my cousin in France for 2 months. There I learned the delicacy of French cuisine.

Since then, I have been training myself and I have been preparing all the traditional Armenian pastries but with a "French touch". At the beginning, I would give away the resulting pastries to my family... But soon enough, I began giving them away to my neighbours, who in turn started giving them away to their friends.

Very soon I was receiving orders from my neighbours, like my mother and my grandma. But I didn't want to just bake from home. I was training and revisiting Armenian pastries with a greater goal.

My first big order

A few weeks later, I received a phone call. My first real order. I made them over 2000 pastries.

Why I need your help?

The money of my project in Boostbloom is because I have another order (huge order!!), which is going to be recurrent from now on. And I would like to create a website page so that other companies and people can contact me and order directly on my website so I don't miss any orders while I'm busy baking.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Let me leave you with some of the delicious Armenian pastries that I'm making:

I love baking and I want to revisit Armenian pastries (I'm not saying reinvent because Armenian pastries are already perfect and delicious). I enjoy tasting desserts from all around the world. I have currently joined a group of international people, and one every two weeks one of us prepares dinner for the rest. Delicious!
